Before taking shape in the pages of INT.DESIGN magazine, our special MADE IN QUÉBEC feature began as a meeting—a gathering of eighteen remarkable individuals leading fourteen exceptional companies.
Brought together under one roof for a memorable photo shoot, these leaders in Quebec design and manufacturing embody a shared vision: to craft locally, and shape our environments for generations to come.
Our photo shoot took place at the heart of the MIL Campus Science Complex—an iconic site at the intersection of industrial heritage and academic innovation, where design and science meet daily. Located on the former Outremont rail yard, this flagship building of Université de Montréal, designed by Menkès Shooner Dagenais LeTourneux, Lemay, and NFOE, stands out with its sun-drenched volumes, noble materials, and unifying purpose.
Winner of the 15th edition of the GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN, the complex welcomes thousands of students and researchers into an environment where architecture fuels collaboration and innovation.
Behind the Lens
Having been called upon to photograph some of the most stunning architecture and design projects in Québec, Stéphane Brügger was already familiar with our meeting place—a space he had previously captured in a series recognized by the GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN jury.
This time, he returns to turn his lens on eighteen faces of Québec Inc., gathered in the Agora for a powerful image: that of a creative ecosystem—rooted, forward-looking, and united. Through his mastery of light and architectural portraiture, Brügger captures more than a presence here—he reveals a shared vision.
The Everyday Making Of
But the real making of is often the one you don’t see at first glance—the one that unfolds every day in the workshops, factories, assembly lines, and brainstorming rooms of companies based from Sherbrooke to Rivière-du-Loup, from Anjou to the Beauce. Behind every well-crafted product are hands, ideas, and a passion waiting to be shared.
Go behind the scenes: discover the human stories, challenges, and successes of the 14 companies featured in a new article.
