WHAT IS THE JURY LOOKING FOR?

Entries are evaluated by a panel of experts who use their expertise, experience, specialization, and technical knowledge to judge and assess the excellence of the products and projects.

The evaluation of entries takes place online and is based on a point scale (1-100), using a set of criteria that are constantly updated and adapted to current industry practices.

Icon: AESTHETIC

AESTHETIC

This criteria is about the overall physical form of the design and its aesthetic attractiveness and beauty, the overall charm of the external appearance of the design.

Is the design beautiful or bland? Is the design visually and intellectually stimulating? Does it provoke curiosity? Does it look amazing?

Of course, evaluating aesthetics may be subjective. Our jury members will be looking out for aesthetic rigour, smart detailing and good use of materials.

Icon: FORM

FORM

This criteria is about the overall form of the project or product.

Does the form of the project or product manifest the declared intention: through materiality, spatial organization, innovative details, and more? Does the form of the project have a clear position on its relationship to its environment and users? Is the product design styled to be appealing and desirable for the intended market?

Icon: FUNCTION

FUNCTION

This criteria is about how the design functions for the basic intended purpose of its creation.

How well does it serve its intended use? Does it effectively resolve problems? Does it respect the comfort and safety of people? Is the product easy to use and understand? Is it ergonomically designed, and does it advance the user experience?

Icon: KNOW-HOW

KNOW-HOW

This criteria looks at if and how the project demonstrates the candidate’s know-how.

Does the project or product showcase the expertise and experience of a particular firm, designer or architect and how is it inscribed into the candidate’s line of work?

Icon: CREATIVITY, ORGINALITY AND INNOVATION

CREATIVITY, ORGINALITY AND INNOVATION

Icon: TECHNOLOGY

TECHNOLOGY

This criteria is about the quality and quantity of positive technological aspects of the design that makes the design different from the designs in the same category. Does the design enhance performance? Does it increase efficiency?

Icon: SOCIAL AND ENVIRONNEMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY

SOCIAL AND ENVIRONNEMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY

This criteria is about the overall social and environmental responsibility of a design.

Does it make respectful use of materials and resources? Does it possess a long lifespan? Does it contain recycled materials and/or can it be recycled? Is it useful and considerate to both people and planet? Does the project demonstrate that its creators take a lucid and critical look at current sustainable development issues? Does it provide a social benefit? Does it demonstrate a best practice in universal design?

Does it consider and integrate the needs of all users, regardless of their age, abilities, mobility or autonomy. Your project doesn’t have to set out to save the world, but it should show respect and consideration for users and the environment.

Icône : EMOTION AND FUN DETAILS

EMOTION AND FUN DETAILS

This criteria is about the quality and quantity of positive emotional aspects of the design that makes the design different from the designs in the same category. Is the design surprising, attractive, sensual? Does the design evoke positive emotions and feelings?

These criteria are not exhaustive and not all criteria are applicable to each category. They are simply intended to provide a framework and a basis for guidance to participants.
